Triaxially deformed sodium clusters in a self-consistent microscopic description
We have performed self-consistent Kohn-Sham calculations for the triaxially deformed sodium clusters Nal2 and Nat4. We use the jellium approach and compute the properties of the valence electrons with an exchange-correlation energy functional in the local density approximation. In both clusters a pronounced shape isomerism is obtained. We find a well-developed triaxial groundstate deformation f...
متن کاملDiscovery of palladium, antimony, tellurium, iodine, and xenon isotopes
Currently, thirty-eight palladium, thirty-eight antimony, thirty-nine tellurium, thirty-eight iodine, and forty xenon isotopes have been observed and the discovery of these isotopes is discussed here. For each isotope a brief synopsis of the first refereed publication, including the production and identification method, is presented. ∗Corresponding author. Email address: [email protected]...
متن کاملRotational stability of tidally deformed planetary bodies
[1] We consider the true polar wander (rotational variations driven by mass redistribution) of tidally deformed planetary bodies. The rotation pole of bodies without tidal deformation is stabilized by the component of the rotational bulge which retains a memory for prior rotational states, that is, a remnant rotational bulge. For planetary bodies with tidal deformation, the additional stabilizi...
متن کاملMicroscopic Description of Nuclear Wobbling Motion — Rotation of Triaxially Deformed Nuclei —
The nuclear wobbling motion in the Lu region is studied by the microscopic cranked mean-field plus RPA method. The Woods-Saxon potential is used as a mean-field with a new parameterization which gives reliable description of rapidly rotating nuclei. The prescription of symmetry-preserving residual interaction makes the calculation of the RPA step parameter-free, and we find the wobbling-like RP...
متن کاملSkyrme Mean-Field Study of Rotational Bands in Transfermium Isotopes
Self-consistent mean field calculations with the SLy4 interaction and a densitydependent pairing force are presented for nuclei in the Nobelium mass region. Predicted quasi-particle spectra are compared with experiment for the heaviest known odd N and odd Z nuclei. Spectra and rotational bands are presented for nuclei around 252,4No for which experiments are either planned or already running.
